Sascha Engel

Engel studied at the Rotterdam Dance Academy, stage dance and choreography. Already during the studies, he started creating his first films. In the past then years, he worked as choreographer & director, composer & film editor in Holland, Germany, Spain, Israel, Ireland & Switzerland. He received several prices and nominations for his films & stage work. As dancer & performer he worked with Truus Bronkhorst & Marien Jongewaard, Arkadi Zeides, Joseph Tmim, Ruby Edelman, Sheketak, Coisceim and many others.
He lives and works since 2005 in Tel Aviv / Israel.
The last work he collaborated with as performer, filmmaker & composer "SHOA LITE" by Ruby Edelman, won the special recognition award of the Akko Fringe Theatre Festival 2010 for "Artistic Courage & Exellent Video".

The Class
A patchwork of different techniques and styles, fused into Engel's own movement language & vocabulary.
The classes always contain highly physical elements, that want to push the dancer over his/her limits and challenge the stamina, to experience new physical states that a modern dancer ist not used to.
Sascha's classes contain elements of release technique, lots of floorwork, and a section of MB (Muschles/Bones, a technique by Min Tanaka), partnerwork & usually a combination, which is build on over several classes.
The classes are 120min long.
Bring water to drink, a towel, an extra T-Shirt and knee protectors to the class.
